The Payara (Hydrolycus scomberoides)
… aka Vampire Piranha, is a decently large freshwater fish from the family Cynodontidae and the genus Hydrolycus. It is a popular game fish in places it is introduced to, but it lives naturally in the Amazon River. The fish can grow to be 1 meter long, and weigh 18 pounds at the max. It’s most notable feature is it’s very long, two front fangs. These teeth can grow to be 6 inches in length. This species is cannibalistic, but also eats smaller fish.
